Hydrafab worked with me to design and build a fixture for bending ski edging for the tips and tails of skis I used to make. Top-shelf skis have full-wrap edging, and it is not realistic to bend by hand at scale. The small manual fixture cost me $6,000, or about 1/4 of the money I raised via Kickstarter to start my ski company, which is now defunct. The fixture ultimately never worked. As I look down the barrel of years of paying back business debt, I wish I could recover the value of the fixture, but it has no resale value, even to the few other ski builders out there. I mostly blame myself, but wish Hydrafab had admitted that what I wanted couldn't be accomplished, either at this price point or at all, and had told me so honestly. They otherwise seemed like exceedingly competent machinists and technicians.
