Black Mountain Church Leadership camp 2024 was amazing. Our church took 45+ kids and adults. We stayed in Asheville Hall. Our time on campus was very busy. Our students were able to do the team building activities one day with some camp counselors. We also did the alpine climb tower and the high ropes course one day too. We were able to utilize the pool one day. Overall, the camp is a very old camp but was it’s a great experience for young kids to come and build leadership and encourage others within the activities there.

This is a very nice place to come on a retreat. The area is full of amazing views. There are lots of hiking trails, a tennis court, and a playground for kids. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. The rooms have not been remodeled in some time, and the mattress was worn, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Blue Ridge Assembly is a well equipped campus for a small to mid-sized retreat. Upto 400 people. Good variety of accommodations, and excellent meeting rooms. Friendly, helpful staff! Safe and clean.

Some mild technology limitations. Be sure to make no assumptions depending on your production needs. Food is a solid 6-7 out of 10. Nothing spectacular, but tasty and filling. Portion sizes are great.

Surroundings are wooded. Buildings are beautiful and historic. Cost is very reasonable.

YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is truly a special place. I have been here for four different retreats and have loved every moment of my experience here. Their outdoor facilities, including the ropes course, pond, and sports courts are nice and the landscape here is beautiful. The lunch and dinner options here are pretty good, but breakfast could be improved. My review would be five stars, but their guest rooms, because of their age, have a faint mildew smell in them and make my allergies go nuts. Overall though, I would definitely recommend visiting YMCA Blue Ridge, even if it is just for the day.

I saw the reviews and thought people were kidding. They weren’t. The rooms are run-down and dirty. The bedding was dirty and the bathrooms were moldy. I stayed in Eureka Hall and it looked really creepy. The railing on my bunk bed was broken and I felt like my bunk bed was going to collapse. The bathroom was so nasty, and I only stayed here one night. On the bright side, the staff was kind and the food wasn’t half-bad. This place is pretty and full of wildlife. It just needs a revamp. (Also someone said that their sheets had pee stains).

I am the parent of a teenager who attended the Blue Ridge Leaders’ School. She started to feel sick a few days in and went to seek help from the nurse. We were very concerned to find out that there was no real medical care available on the mountain; they couldn’t offer her any medicine, and medical care instead fell to individuals heads of each club. In spite of showing Covid symptoms, our daughter was told she was fine, didn’t receive any medicine for a couple days, and wasn’t tested until the last full day (she was positive). Disease outbreaks and other medical emergencies are a common occurrence at these types of gatherings; it is shocking that large groups of minors are being brought to an isolated location without the proper medical staff, supplies, and protocols to handle them.

I recently attended the YMCA Blue Ridge Leadership School and was incredibly disappointed by how they handled a COVID outbreak. Despite displaying symptoms, my concerns were dismissed by the staff, which meant I could have been spreading the virus for days without knowing it. The lack of proper health protocols and the indifferent attitude of the staff were shocking. This experience was not only frustrating but also deeply concerning. The safety and well-being of attendees should be a top priority, and unfortunately, that was clearly not the case here.

This is a great place in terms of view and location. But if you want to stay for a night, the rooms are too old and the mattresses are so uncomfortable. The staff are so nice but the food is so awful. Don't matter what you get, they are all so bad. Their chef just waste the ingredients.
