This get away from it all cabin is eight miles south of Anchor Point and eight miles north of Homer, Alaska. As we drove up in the driveway, we were greeted by the sight of a mother moose with twins. We drank coffee on the deck of the cabin overlooking a private pond, that is home to a duck family, as well as fish. We also watched three bald eagles soaring above the area. It was truly a relaxing and refreshing experience after being on our Alaskan road trip. ||||The cabin consists of a open floor plan with living room and kitchen combined. The loft sleeping area is furnished with a regular bed and a twin. There is also a sofa bed. ||||The owners, Dave and Marilyn are truly remarkable, talented people. They were very friendly and hospitable, and made you feel right at home. We were having some truck problems, they were very helpful and understanding. The thing that I liked least about the cabin, was the low ceiling in the loft. But, we learned to just duck our head. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Our family (five of us) recently stayed at Alaska Lakefront cabin after being swayed by their wonderful description on their website. We were extremely disappointed by the cabin.||||First, the cabin was a bit small for all five of us, despite their website's claim it would sleep five comfortably. With all five of us in the cabin, there was barely room for our suitcases. As mentioned in the other review (that we wish we would have seen before we stayed at this cabin,) the beds were old, dirty, and inadequate for five people. The beds upstairs were good for about 3 people (as long as no one wanted to stand up,) but the foldout, was horrendous. It was old, terribly uncomfortable, and reeked.||||Not only did the foldout bed smell, but the whole cabin smelled faintly of smoke, despite no smoking signs, as well as their website stating the cabin was a no smoking cabin. Also, the cabin had seemingly not been dusted in some time. There was a layer of dust on most of the unused surfaces of the cabin.||||It should also be noted that the cabin has it's water trucked in, and is on a septic system. This means, no long relaxing showers, which was fine with us. However, whenever the water ran, a loud pump would activate. As a result, don't plan on flushing the toilet or getting a drink of water at night, as the pumping will wake everyone else in the cabin up.||||There were also finer details that just seemed to indicate that the cabin owners just didn't care any more. Their bath towels were more like car towels. The books and brochures on attractions in Homer were out of date, and crammed into the corner. This cabin may once have been nice, but seems to have fallen into a state of disrepair. The brush around the cabin was overgrown. Also, being near a lake, the cabin was inundated with mosquitoes. ||||Admittedly, the nearby scenery was beautiful. However, we had two much more enjoyable experiences at similarly priced cabins. If you're looking to stay near Homer or Anchor point, do so elsewhere. Avoid this place like the plague.

We stayed here for a Homer fishing trip in July 2007. This place had the most peaceful view and gorgeous sunlight (almost got too warm). We thought the size of the cabin was just about right for 4 adults. Everything was functional and clean. The upstairs may be considered cramped by some (watch your head!)--but normal for a cabin with only a loft sleeping area.. ||Good location near Homer and Anchor Point.

My wife and I were thrilled to find the AlaskaLakefront cabin available. It's just what we had hoped to find for a truly Alaskan adventure. The mama moos and her twins came thru a couple times and made for some great pictures. Right in front of the deck!!||Clean, very private and the hosts were great!||(Dave, your smoked salmon was fantastic!)||If you are going to be visitng the Anchor Point, Homer area, this place should be at the top of your list!

We stayed here 4 years ago. We couldn't wait to come back! The lakefront cabin is so calm and peaceful. A great place to unwind. A beautiful lake just in front of the cabin to watch the ducks swim by. Dave and Marilyn are two of the nicest people we have ever met.

When we found this cabin on the internet everything looked great, advertises sleeps 5 comfortably, I even called the owners myself to see if this cabin would be the right fit for us, as we needed at least 3 beds. I was told " 2 queens and 1 twin bed " and yes you would be quite comfortable. WRONG what they should have said was 1 twin mattress and 1full mattress on the floor, a yoga mat with a dirty carhart sleeping bag and oh yes, the 30 year old love seat sleeper that smelled like wet dog. Don't forget the pillows, just use the dirty couch pillows. Did I say the bedding was dirty and I found a lighter in my bed. To say this cabin would sleep 5 comfortably is simply a lie. The cabin was most likely fine 20 years ago, but it is time to replace the bedding and furniture as it is old and stained, also the towels, were so old and hard they almost made me bleed. There was a kitchen, however the frig would not get cold and the stove would turn on when you reached across it to get to the frig. There were nasty notes about how they were not going to clean up after you, and they ment it as the cabin looked like it had not been cleaned in years. We arrived late and had no other choice but to stay the night. My nephew ellected to sleep in the car. The next morning after little to no sleep I called the owners and was told "they were not prepared to deal with this at this time" I asked for a refund and was told they would talk to me about it later. ||The next time I called I was yelled at and called names, they took money for 3 nights in which nobody stayed, I don't know how people like this can sleep at night. Its clear to us there not sleeping in the Alaska Lakefront Cabin. ||Still waiting for our refund.
