A great cinema on a charming strip of Madison, CT. On what otherwise could have been a chaotic viewing of Wicked, the staff really left a good impression on me by making it absolutely clear that this was NOT a sing-along viewing. Though my party and I only managed to get seats near the front (typically not optimal), the reclining seats still managed to help us get comfortable during a nearly three-hour long viewing. I would absolutely come here again for any film screening. The next time you want to see a film, consider skipping the big multiplex, as I would highly recommend supporting a charming, local place such as Madison Cinemas for the arts.

I just saw my first movie in the newly renovated Madison Cinema, and let me tell you it was a wonderfully, pleasant experience. I went to see the new Dr Strange movie and I’m glad I went here over the crazy populated and oversold Cinemark. Beautifully renovated physical space, bright and comfortable. The staff were so polite and attentive and genuinely seemed happy to be there. Excellent concessions and prices I would expect. No surprises there.

The theater was lovely. I remember seeing movies here when I was younger and it has been lovingly rehabilitated. The screen was crystal clear and tack-sharp with bright and vibrant colors. Not as big as the chain theaters, but offered the same if not better visual clarity. The sound system was full and dynamic, only complaint was that with our movie it could have been a tad louder, but overall sounded top notch, it doesn’t change my feelings. I will be back for sure. Purchasing reserved seats online like the big theaters was a great addition to have for a local cinema.

I highly encourage you to spend your money here. Support the local business, this is a gem. I saw people posting reviews complaining about the loss of the classic films of the old “Arts Cinema” name and without saying it, feeling like it sold out a bit. Just keep in mind, you have to appeal to the masses too, the reason this place will survive is because it’s offering the new exciting movies the big theaters who sell out, do. I’m sure those type of artistic movies will filter through in due time, as well. Anyway, I digress. I’m so happy to have this location and will be back for sure. BRAVO!

I've been here so many times-most pre-covid. Something very cool and comforting going to an old school somewhat arty/indie movie theater-one of just a couple left on the Ct. Shoreline. Nice to see they did some renovations on the bathroom and installed new seats that are pretty cramped. Small screens. Many times you hear noise coming from the theater next door. Saw "A Complete Unknown" in a packed house yesterday and I gotta say the sound system was so lousy that at some points it was a total mumble-fest. Maybe check it out? After that not sure I wanna go back-sorry! 🙁

Am amazing cinema place. Very quiet and clean. It had Dolby 7.1 sound system. The snacks and coffee counter is excellent. popcorn is really good. coffee is served in a cup and saucer. pretty cool. The staff is very friendly. They show many awards winning cinemas. both English and foreign films. If you get a chance to visit the place, you should go. Overall a great experience.

We love going to this theater! It was renovated recently and the seats are comfy (rock/recline). The popcorn is $11 for a large with free refills. They also serve some food and liquor.

The theater does some fun special things like old movies, discounted matinees in the summer for kids, and other events. You can also hold birthday parties here.

This is our preferred cinema and we’d recommend checking it out. Just wish they showed more movies at a time. There are two theaters.

Here's a tidbit about the Madison movie theater that not many know about. There used to be a wooden stairs on the right side that led up to the projection booth and a bathroom, which I used to borrow on occasion 😆 The door had a small hole that created an image on the opposite wall, a camera obscura.
