After the Reagan Airport debacle - I felt compelled to review this underrated hidden airfield gem in Ellington, CT.

This airport is so safe, warm, and versatile -- Pollock right-stuff, stud pilot, Tom Dzieck -- was almost able to pull off his patented Honda Civic driveway back in with a single engine Cessna. He fell short of the runway, but it didn't matter one bit. Even with Keith Pybus as his co-pilot, as well as his deteriorating vision - the landing had plenty of room for error. And the Mastriani family is safe and sound - as they all hit Gerry's donuts together on the way home.

Needless to say, Tom insisted on backing the Honda Civic into the Gerry's donuts parking lot for as an homage to the Cessna botched landing.

I soloed there in 1972. This little airport was my second home. At 16 my life as a pilot was just beginning!!! Glad to see the pictures and remember all of my wonderful memories..

I love this airport, great place to come and relax. Also the skydiving operation is first class and so is the helicopter school. For small airport there is a lot going on.

Blast from the past! I learned to fly here 40 years ago. My first job flying was with CT Parachutists, and I'm pretty sure that C-182 is the same plane I flew.
