Worst possible experience. Nothing Chris says is true. We contracted with him in November 2021 to tear down and rebuild a 30 x 30 ft Cedar shed. We were supposed to start the project in April 2022 and the project was supported to take 10 days. He started in June, and showed up a few time around 10 AM was usually gone by 2 or 3 in the afternoon. 3 month later and countless excuses he simply ghosted. The workmanship is nothing short of scary. The entire building is 8 inches out of square, the roof rafters were over 2 inches different in height through out and too boot he didn't even use cedar. Image below showing pine base posts.

Chris's word and contract might as well be toilet paper. He will take your money, lie to you, do horrible work and then ghost when you call him out.

Images show that everything had to be redone and new lumber had to be ordered since everything he milled was different lengths and widths.

If you want to have a horrible experience, waste money and have to find a competent contactor to fix everything that's done this is your guy.

Luckily I have all my texts with him printed out and will be using them to recover some losses from workmanship and not using the materials in the contract.

Paid Kit upfront to complete a deck and railings. He took the money, started the job and then disappeared. After countless messages, he agreed to come back and finish so I gave him another chance. He took the railings off the deck and disappeared again. Don’t be fooled by his nice guy approach. He WILL take the money and run.

In early March 2021 I had provided drawings, dimensions and a detailed description of what I wanted to Chris Sullivan, owner of Cedar Structures in Franklin, CT. I was given a quote that included all materials and labor to build a cedar Pavilion along with all the stonework for ground pavers, stone pillars and a stone fireplace by Chris Sullivan, owner of Cedar Structures. We agreed on the price of $53,000 and then we had an initial site meeting with Chris and his Mason. At that time, I gave Chris a 30% deposit on the project. Shortly after that I was told that the project could not be done for that price. I was then quoted by the mason $55,000 for just the stonework. At that time, I cancelled the project and was told by Chris that he would completely refund my deposit. After many phone calls asking to be refunded, I was able to get 2/3rds returned to me in late June. I had to continue to call and text him weekly and he made some small payments on the balance. In August I stopped getting replies. I emailed one last time and told him this is ridiculous that I should have to chase him like this for only $2,250 which wall all that was left to pay. As of 8/28/21 I was never paid the balance and decided to write it off as a bad experience. Anyone who says they are a stand-up business owner and can’t come up with $2,250, should be a concern to anyone. This is a warning to anyone to be cautious about who you are dealing with.

After driving past Chris’s “Kit's” home ( Cedar Structures ) I noticed he had a pergola along with some furniture on display. We stopped and met Chris at which time we began discussing our plans to have a 12x 12 pergola installed. I noticed Chris had his own saw mill therefore, I asked Chris if he wanted hard oak logs. I had a monster tree removed on our property, allowing Chris to take them at no cost. Chris then measured out the area where we were having pavers installed prior to the pergola. He incorrectly marked out where the footings needed to be set. Chris returned to re-measure and stating he corrected the errors. Chris then talked me into a larger pergola ( 14x14) obviously for more money. Chris stated if we chose to upgrade he would throw in an entire roof covering of red cedar lattice. We verbally agreed to the changes. The paver contractor then began to set the footings and discovered that Chris once again, did not measure correctly. The discrepancies were corrected by the paver contractor. Once the pavers were installed we waited for Chris to deliver and construct the pergola. Needless to say, Chris missed three deadlines, one excuse after another! He did throw in two chairs for the wait. Three weeks later Chris finally arrived, the stain and sealer were still wet. This caused damage to our new paver patio. Several of the pavers were damaged by stain. I texted Chris to remind him of his obligation to complete the job with the Lattice. Needless to say many text messages were unanswered. Once he finally responded Chris stated “ I am low on wood and logging this week. I will have it done within the month. I kindly said I would add the extra lattice at no cost. It was not part of the original contract. But I am a very nice guy so I am tossing it in for free.” Chris is correct, the lattice was added verbally when I paid and extra $ 1,000.00 for the upgrade. Therefore, he did not add the extra lattice for free! Unfortunately I never had Chris update the contract. Chris is NOT a “very nice guy”! He is very dishonest and has no clue how honor his word. Thankfully I have all my text messages which will come in handy. I would urge anyone wanting Cedar structures to install anything, shop elsewhere!!!! Chris will try to convince you he is a nice guy, I know differently!
