The company comes and delivers propane to my mother’s small house every ten days, and each bill is about $400, so nearly $1200 a month to heat her house. I’ll be switching her to Long Hill Oil. It’s nuts what people charge these days.

I know my review will not affect there bottom line.My 97 year old mother does not need to be cold at the end of her life.She has been a lifelong customer that goes back to the late 50s with Dougherty Oil.AlWAYS PAYING HER BIll ON TIME!!!. For the last 10 days we have been trying to get a delivery.She has always been on automatic delivery!!! Two times I have spoken to Customer service promising me a delivery the next day . The gauge is at zero !

We have been customers of East River for many years and with good reason! East River staff, Mike P, Carol R, Chris L, Penny (RIP), and James always bring their "A" game to work and provide the best customer service. I recently learned first-hand the company's owner, Jesse Herzog, sets the standard for excellent customer service. After a recent issue I sent an email and Jesse replied, phoning me on the weekend, (yes-on the weekend!!) not only to apologize but also to rectify the issue. The word "impressed" cannot begin to describe my reaction. Our interaction made me realize not only is Jesse an amazing customer-oriented owner, in addition, he is an amazing boss who provides the same excellent customer service I've received over the years from the employees named in this review. Most of the staff I mentioned have been employed by ER for many years which tells me the Herzog family are not only dedicated to their customers but also to their staff. The result-great employees who know their customers and provide excellent customer service every time! I cannot recommend East River highly enough and would give 10 stars if possible!!

We switched to East River Energy for propane delivery from a competitor. The best move we could have made! East River Energy is easy to communicate with and made the transition seamless. They swapped out the tank, reconnected the gas fireplace and generator with ease. Never have to worry about running out of propane as they periodically will stop by when they're in the area to top the tank off if necessary. That's the way a company is supposed to conduct business! 5 stars!

Ever since they took over the wonderful Dougherty oil company this place is
horrible. Go anywhere else in the state for you oil.

Unreliable for service and significantly higher oil prices than other companies in the area. On two occasions, told me a date they were coming for service, never showed, then told me my appointment was for another date. On all annual maintenance tune-ups, they failed to replace my furnace air filter. Each year, told me they would order the correct size filter, but never delivered. Moving on to another company for better service and lower prices. Should have done this long ago.

Absolute worst service I’ve ever received. I have had to purchase propane to heat my house for the last 3 years because I am a renter and do not own my propane tanks. At first service was fine, deliveries were relatively prompt, and didn’t have an issue getting a quick fill when I accidentally ran out of propane mid winter. But since then they have been incredibly unprofessional, Eric in the office has texted me from his personal cellphone about my bill, one time even saying “are you just not going to pay your bill?” Phyllis in their office was not the slightest bit understand that I had to make small payments when covid basically left my household unemployed. The final straw was this winter. I called for a fill up back in October and assumed prices would be relatively similar to last year and the year before. I was wrong $5.19 per gallon. Absolutely mind blown. But the tanks are not owned and I am only a renter so with lack of better judgment, as my tanks started running low this week I called for another delivery. $5.36 per gallon this time. No way. I called around to other propane companies in the area and was shocked that every single one of them was less than $2 a gallon. So I called East River and told them to not make this current delivery as I was changing companies. An hour and a half before the tanks were swapped they delivered anyway. The most unprofessional, worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. And to charge 3 times more for propane than any other company in this area... I’m amazed they’re still in business.
