If you enjoy multiple power outages and difficulty getting in contact with people, this is the company for you! We were forced to use this company and pay a ridiculous “security deposit” fee of close to $300 to set up the account. If you have the option, DO NOT CHOOSE SNEW.

Security deposit is highway robbery. Honestly, been in CT for a year and really missing GA. Everything cost way more for much less in return. Infrastructure failure is prevalent despite much higher costs and taxes. Never paid more than $50 to turn on the lights. $400?!? I'm not sure how residents aren't constantly protesting. Anyway. Avoid if possible.

In the worst of storms “if” we lose power the crews @ SNEW have power restored very quickly! Good teamwork on call!

I've been in South Norwalk for 27 years and had SNEW the entire time. Besides the fact that rates are pretty affordable, we always get power back after a storm before my friends in other parts of the state. I receive communication from them regularly about rate changes or other happenings, and although I've only had to call them a few times, they always answer the phones and if the person can't help, they have someone call me within 24 hours that can.

As far as utility companies go, they're very good in my opinion.

How do you get in touch with these people? My appointment to switch over water meter was a no-show. When I tried reaching the office in the middle of business hours all I got was a recording saying please call back during business hours.

Using what little battery I have left on my phone to write this — lived within the SNEW grid for six months now and have lost power an upwards of four times for hours on end with no reasoning or follow up. Native of CT but lived in NYC for 8+ years and never had any issue remotely similar to this. Genuinely the single worst power company in Connecticut right now, avoid living on their grid if possible at all times.

Just contacted South Norwalk Electric and Water to express my disappointment regarding the power outage that is scheduled for 6 hours tonight. My frustration is heightened due to the fact that my power was out overnight two weeks ago, as well. The extreme heat and loss of money with food makes this unacceptable. In 2019 my source of electricity should at the very least be reliable. After speaking with a supervisor, I was told there is absolutely nothing they can do and that they could not even guarantee more reliable electric service following this outage. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau.

There have been multiple “planned” outages in my area for long durations of time with no notice from SNEW. They simply do not care to notify customers. Our water has also been brown on multiple occasions, rarely with any updates from SNEW regarding the condition of the water. Overall very poor communication, customer service, and value.
