Donating my kidney altruistically through the National Kidney Registry was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. It was a life long dream to ‘donate my spare’, and the National Kidney Registry, and my team of doctors at Dell Seton in Austin, Texas made it a smooth experience. I’m celebrating two years now. The National Kidney Registry is an amazing organization leading the way in living organ donation. The transplant centers in their network are best in class! They helped navigate kidney donation and enabled my left kidney to start a chain of 4 people getting kidneys! My donation also gave me the chance to positively impact a local woman through the "Voucher Program" her perfect match was flown to her in PA from CA. Fabulous organization! Actually this is being posted by Sander, Deborah‘s husband. I donated a kidney so that Deb could receive one because we were not the same blood type. I can easily say it is one of the best things I ever did in my life. I am in touch with my recipient who I speak with frequently and who is doing beautifully and my wife avoided dialysis and has a kidney from a living donor from another state. She too is doing extremely well. There is no way of describing the way donating a kidney makes you feel. You know you are contributing in a very direct way to dramatically changing for the better someone’s life at little risk to your own. It is a wonderful thing to do and having done it I am glad I was given the opportunity. It changed my life for the better as well.

NKR deserves more than 5 stars for the work they are doing in saving lives. Through their Paired Kidney Exchange Program, I was able to donate my kidney on behalf of my father-in law. This started a chain reaction and so far 8 (that we know of) lives that have been impacted and ultimately changed forever. Being a living donor was by far the most humbling and incredible experience and NKR was by my side throughout the entire process. There was not one step of this process that was not clear, easy to navigate, and convienent. Couldn't have asked for a better organization to walk me through this journey! Definitely reach out to them if you are even slightly interested in learning more about the process of living donation....it will change your life forever!
