Called company to politely inquire about Super Shock liquid chlorine. Specifically, I asked for "how do I read the stampings on the bottle to make sure I pick out the freshest bottles when I purchase this product." After a few back and forths, I had received responses such as "I don't know who you are," "We are not revealing our lot numbers," "We are not in control of what Ocean State Job Lot does with our product," yet the individual on the phone tried to assure me that their product is shipped weekly to the vendor and it hasn't been sitting around for a year. I'm not sure how that jives with "we are not in control of the store," but I guess it was really important to the company to keep their codes cryptic. In fact, I even told the individual that I'm simply a customer trying to make sure I pick out the freshest bottles, and if yours are indeed fresh you would want to flaunt it, right? I explained that if he couldn't reveal how to verify freshness, I would move on to another product.
