I had a very specific project to do at my home, building a pool table. When I went to Home Depot in Stamford, they did not have the specific types of wax that I would need to fill the joints of the pool table. But when I called Ace Hardware, Christian answered it was very helpful. He said that they had some options I could choose from, and he would be there all day. When I arrived, Christian had several options waiting for me to review. His customer service was beyond reproach, and he went above and beyond to help me. It was a great experience, and Christian is a fantastic employee. 10 out of 10 experience, I will definitely be using Ace in the future, especially if Christian is Working that shift.

I needed a new CO detector and new smoke alarm, and was dreading a trip to either of the big box stores. I had never been to Rocky's Hardware before, but did a search for local hardware stores and saw that Rocky's was a quick drive for me, as opposed to going across town in Stamford or all the way up to the "big boys" in Norwalk. I was impressed by the user-friendly website. They had a very large selection of products available, which was great, and it was easy to shop and compare all the products I liked. When I selected the two that met my needs, the specials/coupons available for my order were clearly presented and processed without a hitch. My order was ready for pickup in under an hour (and how nice it was to be able to drive to a store with plenty of parking) and my products were bagged and waiting for me at customer service. The sales reps I spoke with were very nice and helped to make my shopping experience so fast and easy! I didn't have the time to browse the entire store, but I will definitely come back and check everything out. Visiting a store like Rocky's makes me so glad that I have such a great alternative to Home Depot/Lowe's so close to home.

Unfortunately I have to revise my original review shown below. Big Dave left several years ago and I think there were other staff changes as well. Lately I am very hard pressed to find someone who can answer questions about a project. This reduction in service makes the higher prices compared to box stores much less supportable for me. The final straw was when one of the kids at the register scanned an item for me, but somehow managed to overcharge me, which I didn't realize until I got home. The store manager was apologetic and helpful, but the kid's friend at the register said "it wasn't his fault." How it's possible to overcharge when using a scanner is hard to understand. It could happen if the price was set incorrectly in the system, but when I brought the item back to complain, it scanned correctly. I won't be going back - rating changed from 4 stars to 1.

They are fairly well stocked for a small store (I found some obscure stainless hex nuts I needed for my kayak that even West Marine didn't carry), and they will often be able to order something that they don't stock. Many (though not all) of the staff are very knowledgeable - especially big Dave: there doesn't seem to be any kind of home project he isn't knowledgeable about, and he has helped me through many projects, never hesitating to spend time with me even if I only end up needing a $5 purchase. The prices may seem a little high compared to the box stores, but if you consider the value of help from the staff, compared with all the countless hours you can spend wandering around Home Depot looking for an employee, who 9 times out of 10 can't answer your questions, Karps comes out a real bargain.

So nice to actually be able to find legit hardware. I needed hex drive, oval head, 5Mx16’s, no joy at West Marine at all, and at Home Depot i would’ve needed to buy about 100 and would’ve never found them if they even had them at all. Rocky’s had them and i found within 45 seconds of being in the store for the first time and exactly the quantity I needed.

Much better than going to the larger "hardware" stores. This is the only place my husband and I go to when we need supplies. The staff is always extremely friendly. We are very happy with this location and they are typically stocked up with any and everything you would ever need.
