We live down the street and are in the Market nearly every day. The children love to stop in on their way home from school to grab a bag of Oreos and are sent in regularly to pick up last minute dinner ingredients. Over the many years we have lived here, the shelves have varied in stock, but the new owners have managed to fill the store with just about everything you need from the grocery with prices competitive with the bigger stores. It's not just convenient; the owners are so very friendly and happy to try to stock anything you ask them for. A gem for this small town!

I've been shopping here most of my life, and have worked here on and off. It holds a special place in my heart and is the true meaning of community. The same regulars come and go, and the staff never forgets a face. The more you shop here, the more they get to know you and what you're looking for, whether it's frequent grocery purchases, what you want for lunch, or if you come in every day at 4 for a fresh French bread, right out of the oven.

The store changed ownership a little over a year ago, and it looks great. They renovated the interior with new floors, did a complete overhaul of the front of the store, and recently made many improvements in the deli, including new equipment, and a larger selection of meats, and other deli items. The store's shelves are stocked with essentials, now with a larger selection of organic products. They are also featuring a "Shop Local" section in the front of the store, which allows local vendors and artisans an outlet to display and sell their wares and products.

In the deli, there's always a soup of the day, and a daily lunch special that's usually $3.99 and ready to "grab n go" in the warmer, along with dinners that are usually ready around 3pm. There's another "grab n go" cooler stocked with dinners to bring home and heat yourself, salads, and soups.

And let's not forget the infamous Durham Market French bread, which you can find in the basket next to the deli, fresh out of the oven.

The new owners have put a lot of effort into restoring not only the esthetics, but the true essence of what the Durham Market is to it's community. They give back to their community, and always open their door to donate to a good cause, allow raffle ticket sales for fundraisers, and host a community bulletin board at the front of the store.

I love this store and I'm so glad to see it thriving again! If you live in the area, or are just passing through, I highly recommend you stop in and check it out!

I moved to Durham and trying to support local business and I’m sure glad I did! Everyone is always so friendly, they have everything I need for groceries, frozen, package, produce, deli. Everything comes from local farms! At the deli everything is freshly made and they even bake their own bread. They make sandwiches too and the one I had was amazing! I posted a picture of the menu to help them out! If you need groceries or quick bite to eat definitely go there!

Ordered grinder from this place came home sliced the grinder in half and found that there was wax or plastic coating around my pepperoni. I called the store the guy who answered the phone I told them what I found and his response is what do you want me to about it? I was so dumb founded at that point and got choked up on words for a second I said I want the my grinder remade he said we close at 7pm. Nothing he could do. At the point I was so mad I just hung up cause you really run a deli and don't remember to remove something that is not suppose to be on meat...being a business owner you would assume they want to fix the situation and he clearly just didn't care.....

Unfortunately one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had. Was super excited to try this place out and was greatly let down. I got the chicken cutlet and it was cold and way too thick. The girl behind the counter did not even cut my sandwich and it totally fell apart. Maybe it was just the chicken cutlet but overall it was gross. The pricing is not cheap either so I was especially disappointed.

Prices and food is good. People in the back do not know how to follow simple instructions or follow time frame for food orders. When there is no one there mind you. Unfortunately this is not the first time but it'll probably be my last. Ruined my entire after work plans. Went out of my way to support this business and get treated like this is unacceptable
