Goldenberry Coin and it's proprietor (or 1 of 2), Ken, is a totally professional service provider. As executor of an estate, I needed to liquidate a small cache of gold US and other coins and, frankly, didn't have much of a clue how to do it. I did some Google searching and found Goldenberry. What a stroke of luck that was! From our first (& only) meeting, Ken was patient and took his time in examining the horde, explaining the whole process in considerable detail, checking to make sure I understood and then processed simple paperwork and said he'd be back to me when the task was done. A tad more than a month later in my mailbox was a nice check as Goldenberry had liquidated the entire collection. Painless, professional and crisp! I have been working to liquidate my grandfather’s coin collection with Ken and Dave Hecht of Goldenberry Coin & Collectibles for about a year and a half. From the day I first met them, I knew that they were the sort of brokers I needed in order to feel comfortable, maximize the value realized from the coins, and learn about the state of the coin market. Having spoken with other dealers locally, the difference in working with Ken and Dave was immediately obvious and reassuring.

Our initial interview consisted of their asking me about my intentions and my asking them about their process. They felt comfortable with my slow approach to selling the coins and with my willingness to be brought along with them in terms of decision-making and information sharing. I learned later that they would have suggested I work with another broker had I wanted to sell immediately for whatever I could get. In fact, Ken and Dave do not buy collections, preferring to work as honest brokers for their clients, rather than be conflicted about whose bottom line is being watched. Our mutual confidence made us all feel that we could work together amicably and profitably.

At each step of the way, they have shared an abundance of information about my grandfather’s coins and their assessment of them. They described their varied strategies for marketing a wide variety of items, including some bills along with hundreds of coins of widely disparate conditions, types, and values. Knowing that I had done a lot of the collecting with my grandfather, Ken and Dave were gentle but honest with me that quite a few of the coins had suffered significant damage due to the way they had been stored for 30 years. I also learned all about the coin grading agencies and their idiosyncrasies as I listened to these two clearly knowledgeable practitioners. As grading results came in, we shared successes and challenges, all the time reaffirming for me that Ken and Dave were doing whatever was in my best interest to reap the maximum return from the coins.

As the market surged and retreated, we decided collectively to price accordingly and at times, to not sell some items until the situation improved. Ken and Dave have also done a remarkable job of appropriately restoring the many poorly handled and improperly stored coins to a state in which excellent pictures could render a fair sense of their true condition for posting on the internet. Happily, their work has doubled or more the return we would have gotten without it.

In closing, I want to praise the honesty, ethical conduct, communication, and good humor that Ken and Dave have demonstrated from the outset. Their financial dealings have been well-documented, clear, and meant to convey all the information I would need as their client to feel they are doing their best for me. They are people of the highest ethical standards, and they work tirelessly for their clients. I give them all 5 stars without the slightest hesitation.
