My husband and I did research on purchasing a new pop-up camper. We liked the construction and the features on the Caribou 6.5 camper. We decided to purchase a new Toyota Tacoma truck and this camper and drive it back to our home in Alaska. We arrived to pick it up and were told the camper would not fit on the truck without removing the tailgate. We ended up having to purchase Yakima racks (we had Yakima rails installed) so we didn't have to take it in and out of the truck.

There are many things we like about this camper. The up and down system works well, very comfortable bed, efficient heater, nice LED lighting, fun outdoor shower (hot water system works well) and a great refrigerator and stove.

There are things we don't like as well. The upholstery was very poorly done. It is way too loose and has big wrinkles in it. The silverware drawer doesn't fit and falls out on the floor. We spent $865 on the awning and a plastic part (cam lever) broke off the first time we used it.

However, the worst part of our purchase is the way we were treated by Brian Ward. He is possibly the rudest person we have ever met. You can check with the BBB on some of his issues.

If you decide to purchase a camper from Outfitter, only speak with Bob Ward. Brian should not be allowed anywhere near customers.

This camper is lightweight and absolutely wonderful . It fits both my hubby's 1500 and my 2500 short bed truck. I believe overall weight with all the options is around 1200 lbs.
The outside shower is a must if you have dogs!! I have 3 german shorthair pointers that go with me everywhere. I use this shower often.
The laguna table system allows more foot room under the table and also more storage options.
the only thing I am not sure about and would change is the rear awning. It works great if camper is flat and not open. When open it sits to high up too be of any use.. lol. will probably have them change it to the side awning some day when i make it back out to Colorado.
The north south bed configuration makes bed size into a king! absolutely wonderful and plenty of room for 2 humans and a dog or one human and 3 dogs.;)..
Trust me when I say if camper comes with automatic lift, get it!! especially if you get the north south bed configuration like I did..
Overall I am super pleased with my purchase. These Guys are fabulous and the customer service is top notch.
I did a lot of research before purchasing. It came down to 2 companies. 4 wheel camper and outfitter manufacturing. I chose caribou lite 6.5 for a variety of reasons.
I use my camper often, Winter and summer. It stays plenty warm in winter; the gas heater heats things up in a hurry although it is a bit loud. When i have a chance to plug into shore power I use a silent electric heater.. During summer, there are plenty of windows and vents. Love the windows!!! They bring in alot of light and air flow.
I would absolutely buy from this company again!!

We bought a used Caribou camper and our experiences with the prior owners were all negative. On short notice I called up to Outfitter today to see if they could help me replace a water pump. The new owner worked us in on short notice so that we could go on our trip. The new owner has made many improvements, the big one is being nice. This is the spot for very light-weight campers.

Custom Caribou lite 8. Should have left a review sooner. Highly recommend this Truck Camper company. Customization and install were very smooth. Customer service is top notch. They answer my (many) questions and provide insight for our first RV purchase.

They make very solid campers. I still own and use one regularly that has generally served me well. However, there post purchase customer service borders on non-existent.
In the several times I have had something break, I have needed to track down parts and service from elsewhere without an ounce of guidance from Outfitter. Most recently I had the dinette window break and have spent 7 months trying to get ahold via phone and email to source the appropriate dimensions or parts from outfitter. I finally heard from them a month ago after leaving a message on a FB forum only to communications fizzle out after they said they could get me a new window ordered.
As these campers are meant to be used in rough conditions things are bound to break regardless of workmanship. Without any semblance of dedication to customer service on the back end, I would definitely recommend looking somewhere else for your lightweight camper needs.

We love our Outfitter 9.5 Apex camper. We live in Wyoming and it was a short drive for us to compare Outfitter with the Hallmark campers. Both campers are very well built but the advantages for the pop up camper go to Outfitter hands down. Don't get me wrong, are there things I would change, absolutely. That goes for both manufactures though and anyone who like to tinker with stuff knows what I'm talking about. Don't believe any negative things being said about the Outfitter campers they are just not true.

Scott and his crew are amazing. They're hard workers and have a great product. I needed something done on my rig two days before I left on my 2 1/2 week road trip and they helped me out considerably. Top notch! (Caribou Lite 6.5)
