Granted, it has been quite a while since I have been to either location… but I was driving by, and remembered I’d been meaning to review.

The food is actually pretty decent, some of the time. About even odds as to it being delicious or dry or so fatty you have to spit almost every bite out.

The real reason I post this review is that both locations have had tip jars out with signage along the lines of “Cash tips strongly preferred.

As this is usually a red flag, I had asked the employees about it about a half-dozen times over a few months. The reply was always that “the owner keeps all the credit card tips”.

Now, I don’t know if this is true, or if the employees just do this to avoid paying taxes. I had inquired via their Facebook page and messages several times, and never got an answer.

Anyway, be advised if you go, and ask for yourself.

This is really a combination review of a pickup order and another sit down, and an overall 4.5 stars. Our PU order was not amazing. The fried okra were soggy, but probably a result of the 10 minute ride home. Meats were mostly pretty good except the burnt ends which were not burnt at all, but very fatty.

When we went to sit down, everything was much better. I once again had the okra, and it was crispy and fresh. I also had the brisket and hot Polish sausage. Brisket was super tender and full of smoky flavor, with that perfect "pull" you look for in properly cooked meat. The Polish had a nice kick to it, and was quality.

My guests got the pulled pork and it was incredibly tender. Some of it was very juicy, other parts were a bit drier, but overall, very tasty. Potato salad and coleslaw both got thumbs up. One guest also had the burnt ends, and this time they were properly done - nicely charred and a lovely texture and flavor.

The atmoshpere is a bit dark, being in the back of a strip mall, and it's in need of a good clean and some refreshing. I think many restaurants don't think their guests don't look up - we do! Clean your ventilation ducts, and replace ceiling tiles!

Value - this is pretty good value for BBQ, which can get very pricey. We were under $50 for 3 with sodas and tax, no tip. That is not bad these days, especially given the quality. We'll be back.

Where to begin...

1. The brisket was horribly dry
2. The 1/2 rack of ribs were so small and also somewhat dry...but in all fairness they didn't say beef ribs so I'll assume we are talking about ribs from a smaller mamal.
3. The macaroni and cheese was $7.50 ....simply outrageous
4. The coleslaw was rather spicy
5. The 2 rolls they included were small and frankly looked like they came in a package of generic rolls.

I picked the food up and a good indication of the quality was the fact that no one was in the restaurant at 5:30 on a Friday...No One.

The other surprise was that most of the food was luke warm or cold.

The only positive was that the okra was pretty decent.

Live and learn I guess... but I will never patronize this establishment again.

Total for this experience $49.00

Stopped here to eat the other day and was surprised about how good it was! We came in the afternoon around 2pm, so it wasn't busy at all. The girl who took our order was really nice. I got the brisket sandwich and cole slaw and my husband got the pulled pork sandwich and baked beans. We got mac and cheese and small fries to share and for our toddler. All the sides are really good, although the cole slaw taste like they put a lot of pepper in it. That caught me of guard. The sandwiches were both really good, but my only complaint was my brisket wasn't hot or even warm. It still tasted good though. Overall, we'd definitely go back if we're out that way.

The best bbq in El Paso county. Ribs were meaty with the perfect amount of fat. They were so tender that the bones twisted out cleanly with ease. Brisket was very moist and tasted amazing. My wife loved the pulled pork sandwich. Beans were good as well. Can’t wait to go back.
