Ordered a monument for my mom. While discussing a design with the sales rep, Michael, I specified there's a big rock at the grave site (Town of Grand Lake dug the wrong grave plot). The rock is 1'' above ground - an issue for monument install. I sent him a photo of the site with the rock. He emailed back saying he'd visit the site before the install. Trusting his reassurance via email that he'd visit the site beforehand, I placed the order. While enroute to the install, I called Michael & asked if he'd seen the grave site beforehand, as he'd promised. He didn't, but then said they'd “work around it.” Of course, there was no work around the big rock. Simply no alternative but to place the monument on top of it. I expressed strong concerns about this, and Michael admitted it was “tough” to work with but, he said his company would come out to the cemetery if any repairs are needed. I was by myself, in a cemetery where the town dug the wrong site, with a crew of 3 men. I should’ve just said to cancel until a solution for the rock was found, but I had to cave from the pressure and decided to trust Michael. They added soil and put the monument atop the rock. Upon receipt of the final invoice from Sterling Monument, I emailed Michael asking to confirm in writing what he said at the cemetery, that his company would return if the monument were to shift. I simply asked for written confirmation of what he told me to my face. No reply, but I received a 2nd invoice. Emailed again, outlining the events & asking to confirm what he'd promised. My email was civil & respectful. Michael’s reply was: “Hi, I hope all is well. Again, you were present for the install and approved everything.” I mistakenly trusted the Town of Grand Lake that dug out the wrong site, and a monument company salesman who's going to wash his hands clean and demand payment. The installation, complete lack of commitment, and purposeful lack of follow-up is heartbreaking. I'm still trying to fathom the impudent and dismissive attitude I’ve dealt with. I truly hope other clients of this business are not treated in the same way. I, unfortunately, cannot recommend Sterling Monument Company to anyone after this experience.

After our Dad's passing, my sister and I had a smooth, simple, affordable, and competent experience at Sterling Monument. Mike, the district manager, provided excellent communication with us throughout the entire process. He was compassionate, timely, and included us in every decision (stone design, coordination of payment, and date of foundation and stone placement so we could be there) while still allowing us to take our time during an unexpected loss. My sister and I were very pleased with the look of the stone at final placement. We truly couldn't have asked for a better experience during such a difficult time in life. Thank you Mike and Sterling Monument! We highly, highly recommend you use this stellar company; you won't find better people or service.
