I'm very happy to say that this station has been part of our community for many years. We raised our two children in Laporte, and this station, with its trucks, and occasionally sirens have been an expected fixture. We even had the opportunity to spend several hours at night in the station when a gas line up Overland Trail had a problem, and we were told we needed to evacuate our homes until the problem was cleared. It was very exciting for the kids to be visiting inside the station in their pajamas.
